October 10 – A New Look and Overall Service Improvements

You may have already noticed that VeriSign has made some significant improvements to the Weblogs.com infrastructure. Since taking the reins from Dave Winer, we have greatly increased the performance, capacity and reliability of the service:

Upgraded the Weblogs.com DNS Infrastructure, providing Global DNS name service

Expanded to a multi-server environment to increase capacity

Created a robust framework to support the growing needs of the community

We have recognized a growth in traffic of over 300%

Servicing Millions of Pings per day

October 6 – VeriSign has acquired the assets of Weblogs.com

VeriSign has acquired the assets of Weblogs.com from Dave Winer. As a result of this acquisition, Weblogs.com has been relaunched to provide core infrastructure services to the blogging community. The new service continues to deliver on Dave’s original vision, while providing a more robust, stable, and efficient "ping" service for weblogs and Internet content publishers to notify when content has been updated.
